DISABLED ACCESS HOLIDAYS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Disabled Access Holidays was started after the owners own experiences when on holiday with their disabled son. After difficulties finding suitable holidays for disabled people and wheelchair accessible accommodation, they purchased and adapted an apartment to make it suitable for disabled travellers. We are the experts in arranging holidays for people with medical conditions and disabled people.

 

Our Service Includes:

  • Booking flights from most UK airports and arranging assistance at the airport
  • Recommending accessible hotels, apartments and villas in a variety of wheelchair accessible resorts
  • Helping disabled travellers by suggesting properties with wheel-in showers, pool hoists, ramped pool access and other services often required by disabled people on holiday
  • Guaranteed adapted rooms upon confirmation of booking
  • Arranging transfers in adapted vehicles
  • Sourcing and booking mobility equipment essential for day to day living

 

The scholarship is open to currently enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Disability Studies or a related field whose emphasis is on Disability Arts.

Application Requirements for DAH Scholarship for Disability Studies:

  • The completed Application Form.
  • 200-400 word essay explaining your long- and short-term goals, special interests, volunteer/community service, and what inspired you to pursue a professional career in Disability Studies.
  • 600 words essay on “Disabled Holiday Information For People With Special Needs”
  • You must submit your essays before the 1st September 2016; anyone who submits an entry after this date will be automatically disqualified.
  • Send your entries to mike@disabledaccessholidays.com clearly indicating on the subject the title "Scholarship Competition"

 

The Eligibility of the Scholarship is as follows

  1. Clearly indicate on your submission the following details.
    • Name.
    • Age.
    • The University which you are currently attending.
    • What program or course you are enrolled in.
    • The financial need you have.
    • Phone number and email address.
    • Residency.
    • Which year in university you are in.
  2. All employees or relatives of employees of Disabled Access Holidays are disqualified from participating in this competition.
  3. All works must be original or you risk disqualification.
  4. The scholarship prize money is £200. The participant must therefore clearly outline what this money will be used for.
  5. The scholarship amount is non-transferable to anyone other than the current participant.
  6. The scholarship is only available to students for the academic year 2016-2017. All applicants must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Disability Studies or a related field with a focus on research on people with different disabilities.

 

The scholarship committee will not review incomplete or late applications.
